Task Replication

What is Task Replication?

Note: Task replication is an advanced feature which requires template configuration and may not be available for your system. For more information, please contact your administrator.

This feature is enabled on the template and allows for certain tasks to be replicated (i.e. repeated) based on the attribute values that are set.

For example, say that for your process, you need to involve marketing representatives from each country involved in a project (either for providing reference briefs, getting approvals, or both). The countries (and number of countries) changes from project to project.

A template can be configured to use the task replication feature to create tasks on the fly based on the values entered for a specific attribute, such as Countries.

Using Task Replication

If the template is configured to use task replication, then task replication is an automated process that occurs when you set the attribute values and create the project.

Creating Projects with Task Replication

To create a project which uses task replication, choose the template configured for task replication and then choose the attribute values. Here, the countries are “United States” and “Canada”.

After creating the project, the “Upload Marketing Brief” and “Marketing Approval” tasks have been replicated for both “United States” and “Canada”.

When tasks are automatically created based on attribute values, the project Assignments tab is lists the swimlane roles grouped by attribute values to make it easier to assign tasks.

For more information about managing project assignments with replication values see Managing Projects.
